CRYSTAL LAKE – Two Crystal Lake men face multiple criminal charges Friday after police said they were responsible for defacing buildings, signs and dumpsters around downtown Crystal Lake with graffiti.

Crystal Lake residents Christopher Kijak, 24, and Michael Dudek, 32, were charged with multiple counts of criminal defacement of property, Crystal Lake police said. Dudek also was charged with criminal defacement to state-supported property.

Police charged the men after a months-long investigation and several anonymous tips. The investigation started after police received reports, beginning in late 2013, about graffiti on buildings, signs, dumpsters and other property around the downtown.

Crystal Lake police continue to investigate the issue. Additional arrests may happen, police said.

If residents have any information about this crime or others, they can contact crime stoppers at 800-762-STOP.
