BULL VALLEY – A 51-year-old man was taken to the hospital after he fell 50 feet from a tree, the McHenry Township Fire Protection District said.

About 8:10 p.m. Friday, the man, whose name was not released, had climbed the tree in order to cut part of it off, said Battalion Chief Dave Harwood.

Harwood said the man was preparing to secure himself to the tree, which is on the 7300 block of Mason Hill Road, when the branch he was standing on broke.

The man sustained serious injuries and was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
