CARY – A 47-year-old Barrington man has serious injuries after he was injured Saturday morning when his vehicle hit a tree on Crystal Lake Road near Wentworth Circle, fire officials said.

The Cary Fire Department responded to the scene about 11:15 a.m., Capt. Carl Boni said. Firefighters extricated the man from the vehicle and he was flown by Flight for Life to the hospital. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on Crystal Lake Road when it left the roadway and struck the tree located on the north side of the road, according to a news release from the Cary Police Department. The roadway was closed for several hours to investigate the crash. Drugs and alcohol are not expected to have played a role in the crash, according to the release.

The man, whose name was not released, was the lone occupant of the vehicle.
