Punishing the guilty
To the Editor:
A question for the American people to ask themselves: If illegal immigrants have free access and free treatment in American hospital emergency rooms, why not American veterans? No, they have to wait in line for more than 100 days, and some of them die before they get on the waiting list. American veterans should have the right to get this treatment in any emergency room if the American government cannot or will not treat the veterans.
That would be fair. I hope we all agree on that. Do we also agree on punishing the guilty employees? Forty veterans died from neglect. How about firing 40 guilty employees?
Should everybody in the VA hospitals that gave the orders, obeyed, knew about it and did nothing about it be investigated for something?
