Prairie Ridge headed to state finals

The Prairie Ridge baseball team is headed to the state finals after beating Mundelein 9-6 on Monday night in the Class 4A Rockford Aviators Supersectional.

Tim Jablonsky's grand slam in the fifth inning made things 9-6 in an inning that began with the Wolves (24-16) trailing by three.

Prairie Ridge will face Providence (26-14) at 3 p.m. Friday in a state semifinal at Joliet's Silver Cross Field. The winner will move on to Saturday's 5 p.m. state final against the winner of South Elgin and St. Rita.

The Wolves last trip to state ended in a state title in 2007-08.
