Women in McHenry County has named its 2014 Challenge Scholarship winners.

Women in McHenry County offered three $1,000 scholarships – two for graduating high school seniors and one to a woman returning to work. Recipients must have demonstrated a significant challenge to their education, be it physical, financial or a learning challenge.

This year’s winners include 2014 Emily Rose Lanigan from Richmond Burton, who will attend the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater as a history major, and Courtney Huellen from Cary, graduating from Prairie Ridge, who will be attending Illinois State University and majoring in speech-language pathology.

The returning education winner is Raquel Coleman, who is studying psychology at Columbia University with the goal of becoming an occupational therapist.

A breakfast honoring the recipients will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. June 19 at 31 North Banquets, 217 S. Front St., McHenry. Admission is $17 for members and $25 for nonmembers. To register, email pstrelcheck@ymail.com.
