JOHNSBURG – A shredding event will be held at McHenry Township's senior services office Wednesday.

A presentation on identity theft and scams will be held at 10 a.m. at the senior services office, 3519 N Richmond Road in Johnsburg, by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

A shredding event for personal documents will start at 9 a.m. before the presentation and wrap up around 11 a.m. Each participant is asked to bring only two small- to medium-sized boxes to shred.

These educational presentations are held quarterly to bring up-to-date information on scams. Tips will be given on what to watch out for during the summer, how to protect oneself and what to do if something happens.

The presentation is for all McHenry County residents, but those who are seniors or a caregiver to a senior are especially encouraged to attend because seniors are often targeted.

More information on the presentation can be found by contacting the McHenry County Sheriff's Office community relations division at 815-388-2144.
