Stop the shooting

To the Editor:

When is someone going to stop the shooting on Zimmerman Road near Dufield Pond?

This has been going on for years, and no one is doing anything about this serious quality of life and property value issue. We have contacted the McHenry Country police, our state representative, the McHenry County Board and even the McHenry Country Conservation District, and nobody seems to be able to do anything about this continuous semi-automatic firearm noise that sometimes goes on for hours – usually on the weekends – and must frighten thousands of Woodstock and unincorporated Woodstock residents.

The activity is not only ruining our community peace and serenity, but it also will cause toxic lead to leech into Dufield Pond. Can you imagine a family wanting to enjoy McHenry Country Conservation District property and then encountering a barrage of gunfire.

It is hard to understand one resident is so self-centered that they would physically and emotionally abuse the entire area with gunfire when a perfectly good indoor firing range is available a few short miles away in Crystal Lake.
