ALGONQUIN – Panera Bread will be giving away free bread for a year to its first drive-thru window customers in Algonquin this week.

The chain restaurant recently opened a drive-thru at 451 S. Randall Road. Starting at 6 a.m. Wednesday, the first 30 customers will get a certificate for a free loaf of bread every month for a year. There is a limit of one certificate per car, according to a news release.

“Adding a drive thru will add a new dynamic of convenience for both existing and new customers,” Hamra Enterprises President and CEO Mike Hamra said in a statement. “Our current bakery-café has been embraced by many residents and businesses since 2001, and we look forward to sharing more of the Panera warmth in Algonquin.”

Hamra Enterprises’s Chicago Bread LLC operates 33 Panera Bread bakery-cafés in the Chicago area.

Panera announced that it would add a drive-thru in February.
