The Raue Center for the Arts, in Crystal Lake, is now offering acting classes for kids!
Sage Studio Jr. classes for students ages 7 to 14 begin next month as an addition to the Raue’s existing Sage Studio educational theater program.
The new program will launch in July with the course “Ready, Set, Act!” Acting for Young Performers. The workshop begins July 12 for ages 7-11 and 12-14. The 7-11 class meets from 10 - 11am and the 12-14 the group meets from 10 - 11:30 am. Tuition for is $100 per student. Guest instructors include professionals from all areas of the theatre industry, including lifetime members of the Actor's Studio and veterans of Broadway and Off-Broadway.
The program is under the direction of Amanda Flahive. Amanda has been a Williams Street Repertory company member since the inaugural season in 2011, appearing in numerous productions. She holds a BFA in musical theatre from Millikin University, and has appeared in regional and touring productions across the country. Amanda also served for five seasons as the Associate Director of Prairie Fire Children's Theatre, where she taught acting, voice and stagecraft to thousands of children across the Midwest, and has directed and choreographed youth productions throughout northern Illinois.
