Woodstock sex offender charged for being at Emricson Park

WOODSTOCK – A registered child sex offender was arrested Tuesday after police learned that he'd been at a public park, authorities said.

Edward J. Johnson, 42, 308 Summit Ave., Woodstock, is charged with unlawful presence of a Child Sex Offender within a Public Park, a Class A misdemeanor.

The Woodstock Police Department got a report on June 16 that the man had been at Woodstock Water Works, 1313 Kishwaukee Valley Road, according a news release from the department.

Woodstock Water Works is located within Emricson Park.

In May, Johnson was arrested for being on Northwood Middle School's property. Police said the Woodstock man was picking up the child of a family friend, on a request from the family.

He was charged with Unlawful Presence within a School Zone by a Child Sex Offender.

Johnson has been released on a $1,500 bond for the latest incident, according to the release.

His court date is set for July 24.
