Pedestrian stable after being hit by car

HARVARD – A pedestrian is in stable condition at a Rockford hospital after being hit by a car south of Harvard in unincorporated Dunham Township, police said.

Tyler S. Profitt, 20, of Marengo was walking his bike south on Route 23 about a half mile south of Streit Road on Friday evening when he was hit by a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix also traveling south on Route 23, according to a preliminary investigation conducted by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office, Harvard police and the Harvard Fire Protection District responded to the accident at 9:57 p.m., according a news release from the sheriff's office.

Profitt was flown to Rockford Memorial Hospital where he was listed in stable condition, the release said. The car's driver, Keith G. Dobner, 26, of Harvard, was not injured.

No citations or arrests had been made as of Saturday afternoon.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office Accident Investigations Unit is conducting an investigation.
