Jacobs grad Evan Jager wins steeplechase final at U.S. outdoor championships

Algonquin native Evan Jager sticks his tongue out after winning the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase final at the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday in Sacramento, Calif. The 2007 Jacobs graduate won in 8:18.83 ahead of second-place finisher Daniel Huling, who finished in 8:19.73. Jager, who won his preliminary heat in 8:34.45, finished sixth in the steeplechase at the 2012 London Olympics. It is his third straight U.S. steeplechase title and he improved on his time from last season (8:20.67).

Algonquin native and 2007 Jacobs High School graduate Evan Jager won the 3,000-meter steeplechase Sunday's at the 2014 USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, California.

Jager, running for Nike/Bowerman Track Club, finished in 8:18.83 ahead of second-place finisher Daniel Huling, who finished in 8:19.73.

Jager won his preliminary heat in 8:34.45.

Jager, who finished sixth in the steeplechase at the 2012 London Olympics, won his third straight U.S. steeplechase title and, bettered his time from last seaosn (8:20.67).
