PIERRON — Authorities say a pilot escaped serious injury when he crashed his ultra-light plane in a southwestern Illinois community's park near where Little League games were being played.

Highland police say the single-seat plane went down shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday in Pierron, east of St. Louis.

Authorities say the pilot sustained minor injuries and walked away from the wreck. He was treated at a hospital.

His name has not yet been released.
