GOP obstructionism

To the Editor:

The obstructionism that was begun by the GOP in a meeting on the night of President Barack Obama’s first inauguration has reached a fever pitch. For years, the GOP-controlled House has stonewalled,  filibustered (all-time record) and denied every piece of legislation presented by our president. Among them were ideas the GOP previously agreed upon.

Furthering this irresponsible behavior, the GOP has voted 54 times to repeal a law deemed constitutional by the Supreme Court. This law is Obamacare. At the cost of $1.45 million per voting session, we have been robbed of $78 million for nothing.

And then there is the GOP government shutdown of 2013, which cost us $24 billion. This was due to a ridiculous tantrum that hurt the American people.

Now, in an action by Speaker John Boehner, that can only be described as a publicity stunt, he says he will sue our president. He says that the president has issued too many (180) executive orders. Never mind that Bush enacted 291 and Reagan signed 381. But this only seems to be an issue with this president.

To the GOP, I say enough of these immature, non-productive games. The American people are suffering, the middle class is disappearing, and people need jobs. Work on the real problems in our country. We need your ideas and your cooperation now.
