CARY – A kitchen fire left a townhouse uninhabitable, the Cary Fire Protection District said.

Firefighters were called at 5:42 p.m. Friday to 41 Willow Circle in the Bright Oaks Subdivision after tenant Amanda Sobieski found the house filled with smoke, according to a news release.

She retrieved her two dogs, evacuated and called the fire department.

The fire was in the kitchen and extinguished within minutes of firefighters arriving on scene, the news release said.

Fire damage was limited to the kitchen, but the rest of the house had smoke damage, the news release said. A damage estimate was not available and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

No one was hurt.
