McHENRY – The Volunteer Center McHenry County and The McHenry County Community Center Foundation will start a six-session Nonprofit Boot Camp at 9 a.m. July 29.

The boot camp is designed as a training resource for nonprofit leaders, staff and board members. Presented by experienced nonprofit leaders, each session will include a combination of case studies, lectures and peer learning opportunities.

The first session in the series, Board Building, will be presented by Marcy Piekos, executive director for Leadership Greater McHenry County and a member of the Board of Education for Community Unit School District 200. She will provide an overview of the roles and responsibilities of the board of directors, including how to write a job description, expectations for a board member and how to recruit a new board member.

Following the session on board building, Nonprofit Boot Camp will offer sessions on fundraising, legal and regulatory requirements, grant writing, financial reports and a panel discussion.

Participants can register for individual sessions for $10 or all six sessions for $50. To register, call the Volunteer Center McHenry County at 815-344-4483 or visit volunteercentermchenrycounty.org.
