Two arrested during Fourth of July crackdown in Woodstock

WOODSTOCK – Police arrested two drunken drivers during their Fourth of July crackdown.

The Woodstock Police Department participated in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" event, joining forces with state and local authorities to discourage drunken driving and encourage seat belt use, according to a news release from the department.

Police put extra emphasis on the late-night hours when the greatest number of motorists drive drunk, the release said.

The crackdown was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation's Division of Traffic Safety.
