To the Editor:
This letter is long overdue, and it is directed to someone I don’t even know.
The purpose is to thank someone who was kind to my late husband, who passed away about a year-and-a-half ago. We were residents at McHenry Villa on Waukegan Road in McHenry, and my husband had a habit of walking with his walker every day for his health. He especially liked the Riverwalk.
One day when walking with my daughter, he stopped to rest on a condo resident’s step, and my daughter scolded him that the steps were not a public bench. They were discussing the situation when the patio door opened and the resident came outside with a glass of water for him. She explained that not only was it OK, it was their routine that he would stop and she would bring him water. This kindness was given without even knowing his name.
God bless you, and thank you, whoever you are.
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,” Matthew 25:35.
