Vet group plans rib fest fundraiser for building destroyed by fire

JOHNSBURG — An upcoming rib fest will raise money for the Polish Legion of Americans to cover costs arising from the destruction of their building.

A fire broke out at the McHenry post this past Mother's Day leaving the back of the building including the roof completely destroyed and the front with significant damage.

The group has been raising money to rebuild the structure, and the latest effort is a rib fest planned for 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at the Moose Lodge, 3535 N. Richmond Road, Johnsburg.

Admission costs $5.

Ribs will be sold until 7 p.m., with a full slab costing $15 and a 1⁄2 slab going for $10. Each rib purchase also will come with two drink tickets, baked potato, coleslaw, baked beans, corn on the cob and dessert.

Hot dogs also will be available.

The bands Peter and the Versatiles, Practice in Public and Fade will perform live throughout the day and evening.

The event will also include 50-50 raffles and door prizes. Fundraiser T-shirts will be available for purchase.
