Against Pedcor project

To the Editor:

It’s been a long time since I attended a village meeting. Shame on me.

Village President Mark Kownick and some trustees are trying to sell low-income housing as positive growth to our village. Shame on them.

Business and industry create growth. I was surprised that our village president already knows the future residents of his 60-unit pet project. Did he hand select them for housing that doesn’t even exist yet? He then did a tap dance when the hard questions came and had to confess there were no other bids for this project.

The zoning procedure is a huge problem, too. Contrary to Bruce Kaplan’s article about citizens of Cary, he was not at the village meeting when about 200 citizens of all careers and ethnic backgrounds attended. Wait, Mr. Kaplan is excused due to the conflict of interest.

Pedcor Investment does not offer growth for our village. They will build a project, sell it to others that have nothing vested into Cary, and none of them will be here in two or 15 years.

Pedcor is not accredited with the Better Business Bureau. Yet the village president claimed he did extensive research on this firm. This project is unnecessary and will help property values go down as taxes continue to rise.

So much to say, so little room. Thank you, Karen Lukasik and Jeffrey Kraus. You know this is a bad idea for Cary and have the courage to stand against it.
