Addante leads local golfers in Chick Evans Junior Amateur Championship

Algonquin's Joseph Addante shot a two-round score of 148 to lead a group of five local golfers into the third round of the 34th Chick Evans Junior Amateur Championship on Tuesday at Itsaca Country Club in Itasca. 

The Jacobs golfer was 5-over-par in the second round, and dropped from second place to a tie for eighth, but still easily qualified for the top-32 match play that begins Wednesday.

Addante will be joined by Spring Grove's Jordan Hahn, who shot a two-round score of 149 to tie for 11th, and Hampshire's Chris Boyle (150), who finished in a tie for 16th.

Cary's Daniel DePrey (151) and Algonquin's Jack Ramsett (152) also advanced to the third round.    

In the third round, golfers will be seeded 1-32 based on their opening-rounds total. If they win their first match, they also will play in the Round of 16 later that day.   

65th Illinois Open Championship: At the Glen Club in Glenview, Crystal Lake amateur Riley Bauman shot a 1-over 73 for a tie for 29th place after the first two rounds of the tournament.    

Bauman shot a two-day total of 147. Brian Bullington of Frankfort leads the after two rounds, shooting a 7-under 137. Drew Chuipek and Mike Brierley of Algonquin both shot two-round scores of 151 to tie for 61st. The third and final round of the tournament is Wednesday.   

U.S. Junior Amateur: At the Club at Carlton Woods in Woodlands, Texas, Crystal Lake's Ethan Farnam missed the cut after shooting 11-over for the second straight day. The 15-year-old Prairie Ridge attendee finished the tournament in a tie for 144th at 22 over.
