Ex-school janitor accused of assaulting students
CHICAGO (AP) — A former Chicago Public Schools janitor is accused of raping one student and fondling another while working at a South Side high school.
Cook County Circuit Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil on Tuesday set bail at $100,000 for Paul Peatry, who is charged with criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse.
Assistant State's Attorney Colleen Rogers says between August 2012 and July 2013, the 40-year-old Peatry repeatedly sexually assaulted a student in a classroom after school. She says between Feb. 1 and Feb. 28, 2013, Peatry put his hands down another student's pants.
Rogers says Peatry's victims, who attended Bowen High School, came forward earlier this year.
An assistant public defender said Peatry, who also volunteered as an assistant coach, currently works as a security guard.
