CRYSTAL LAKE — A Crystal Lake woman suffered only a minor injury after she drove through the back of her garage, struck a tree, and then hit a neighboring home Wednesday night.

Around 9:30 p.m., emergency responders from the Crystal Lake Police Department and the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department were called to a scene where a vehicle was reported to have crashed into a home at 707 Sussex Lane in Crystal Lake, according to a press release from the police department.

The release states an investigation into the incident revealed Beverly Larson, 70, of 712 Coventry Lane in Crystal Lake, entered her own garage, intending to park her Subaru Outback. Instead, she accelerated and drove through the back wall of the garage. The vehicle continued westbound, through a wooden fence, and into the backyard of 707 Sussex Lane. Larson reportedly struck a tree with her vehicle before it rolled onto its side and hit the back of the neighboring residence.

No injuries to the residents of the home were reported, but the vehicle and both homes sustained significant damage, the release states.

Larson was transported to Centegra Hospital-Woodstock with a minor injury.

The release further states no charges have been filed and none are expected.
