CRYSTAL LAKE – Centegra Health System’s hospitals were recently ranked by U.S. News & World Report.

U.S. News & World Report ranked Centegra Hospital – McHenry as No. 20 in the Best Hospitals in Chicago, according to a news release from Centegra.

In its annual “Best Regional Hospitals” issue, U.S. News & World Report ranked Centegra Hospital – McHenry as No. 20 in the Chicago metro area and No. 22 in Illinois. Illinois has 222 hospitals. Centegra Hospital-Woodstock was tied at No. 34 in the Chicago area with six other hospitals.

“Our physicians and associates are committed to providing patients safe and excellent care in a healing environment,” Centegra CEO Michael S. Eesley said in a statement.

U.S. News & World Report noted on its website that its methodology has shifted from a survey-based list to a more objective assessment. Of the 12 specialties that were rated by the publication, this year the weight assigned to patient safety was doubled to 10 percent of each hospital’s overall score. The weight given to hospital reputation dropped from 32.5 percent to 27.5 percent, according to the news release.
