WOODSTOCK – A burglary of a Woodstock home that involved the sexual assault of a child is under investigation, and a suspect has been taken into custody by Woodstock police, its chief said.

Ericsson J. Gumesindo, 18, of Woodstock, has been charged with theft of property worth more than $300, a Class 3 felony, and was in custody in McHenry County Jail as of Wednesday afternoon with his bond set at $15,000.

Court documents identified the stolen property as a blue 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier.

He was arrested Tuesday in the 800 block of Washington Street.

The case is still being investigated, Woodstock Police Chief Robert Lowen said, adding that additional details will be available Thursday.

Gumesindo's next court date is Friday.
