Shut down Randall project

To the Editor:

When is the county going to kill the Randall Road boondoggle?

Everybody knows it’s a complete waste. Every time the county talks about it, it talks about the left turn at Randall and Algonquin roads, but that’s not where it’s planning to spend our money.

Of the $135 million they budgeted, the CFI should only cost $5 million, although the county plans to spend $13 million. And it’s doubtful the CFI will even work.

Is the rest for frontage roads? Who needs frontage roads? It’s quicker and easier to drive through the parking lots. No surprise there. The parking lots on Randall were specifically designed to handle traffic through them and between them, so frontage roads are a complete waste.

And why is the county pushing this project? For a problem we have today? No. It’s to solve problems that will happen in the future, when the county’s population skyrockets like it’s the 1980s again. We haven’t seen growth like that in 25 years. Hello, county. Did you see the front-page story in the Northwest Herald? The one that showed population has been going down.

It’s time to shut this thing down before any more of our tax dollars are wasted. And remember in November which board members were for it and which were against it.
