LAKE IN THE HILLS – The Lake in the Hills Police Department has scheduled a community cookout Saturday as part of National Night Out celebrations.

National Night Out is a program designed to get neighborhoods involved in a “stand against crime in their community,” according to a village news release.

The event will have educational displays, such as a fire engine, face painting, simulated firearms, a Flight for Life visit and numerous other activities for kids and parents. A free hot dog dinner will be served, the news release said.

The cookout is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Safety Education Center at 1109 Crystal Lake Road.

For information, call the police department's Community Relations Division at 847-658-5676.
