Published: Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014 11:33 p.m. CST

FOX RIVER GROVE – Firefighters from the Fox River Grove Fire Protection District have scheduled a food drive to benefit the Cary-Grove Food Pantry.

This is the seventh year members of the fire protection district have collected donations for the food pantry, according to a news release.

“Gifts of non-perishable food are always welcome,” said the Rev. Gerald Schalk, chaplain of the Fox River Grove Fire Protection District. “The cash gifts make it possible for the food pantry to purchase food, especially produce and meat, for 10 cents on the dollar. Our community has always been very generous in supporting this effort.”

The food drive is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday at the Jewel-Osco at 800 Northwest Highway.
