Victim of fatal Lake in the Hills crash identified

A Crystal Lake man who died early Saturday in a motorcycle crash on Rakow Road has been identified as Justin J. Blanco-Klein, according to the Lake in the Hills Police Department.

On a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle, Blanco-Klein, 25, was traveling eastbound on Rakow Road, west of Pingree Road, according to a news release from the Lake in the Hills Police. The motorcycle rear-ended a 1998 Mercedes driven by Joel Avita, that also was traveling eastbound on Rakow. A collision ensued and the motorcycle rider was ejected.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department was notified at 3:40 a.m., and the Crystal Lake Fire Department and Flight for Life responded and tended to Blanco-Klein. He was transported to Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville, where he later died.

Rakow Road was closed for about four hours. The accident remains under investigation.
