DIXON – The Dixon City Council is expected to decide next week if they will hire a consultant to review financial controls in the northern Illinois city.
Mayor Jim Burke told The Dixon Telegraph the Monday vote will be on contracting with a Naperville-based consulting firm.
The vote comes after the city’s former comptroller was convicted of stealing nearly $54 million from the city over two decades.
Rita Crundwell is serving a nearly 20-year prison sentence.
The 18-week review would cost between $27,000 and $35,000.
The firm would look at financial controls that Finance Director Paula Meyer has started since she was hired in August 2012.
The firm also would offer suggestions for additional controls or separation of duties.
