Thank God for America

To the Editor:

America was created by peace loving men – predominantly Christians.

Their goal was a nation where they and their families were safe and free. With the opportunity to choose their way of life, within the law. The law was Judeo Christian, conforming mostly with Biblical principles.

A typical settler would be a person wanting enough land to support the comfortable raising and educating of his family with safety and security. This would require a large enough area to have wood to build and heat his cabin. To have access to a water supply. To have enough land to raise food for his family and the future potential of crops or cattle for profit.

These are simple desires of anyone at that time. These hopes were not possible anywhere in the world in the 16th century for the average person, but the desire the dedication and the determination of the early American settlers who had a firm conviction in self reliance made it possible here. In the beginning satisfaction of these simple needs and wants became the American dream.

Because of the self reliance, the determination, the dedication and clearly defined common goals, with God’s help, America succeeded in a big way. In only 225 years, America became the most powerful, wealthy, compassionate and humanitarian nation in the world.

America was referred throughout the world by intelligent unbiased individuals as the greatest nation the world has ever known.
