Book recommendation

To the Editor:

While traveling across our country this summer seeing places I have waited my whole life to see, such as Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone National Park, I experienced a surge of patriotism that I hadn’t anticipated.

I always have been proud to be an American, but I even surprised myself while walking toward Mt. Rushmore for the first time and seeing the incredible beauty of Yellowstone and the countryside as we drove.

I had taken a couple of books to read along the way, but was more distracted by the beauty outside the car window than I realized. The book I did read turned out to be a rather prophetic choice that I would like to highly recommend to anyone who loves our country, regardless of any party affiliation or preconceived ideas.

It is called “One Nation” by Ben Carson. It has reinvigorated me and made me hopeful that there still are people out there who could serve this country selflessly and with common sense.
