CRYSTAL LAKE – National chain Which Wich Superior Sandwiches plans to bring its trillions of sandwich combinations to Crystal Lake.

Area franchisee Brijesh Patel plans to open at 5899 Route 14, Unit A, Crystal Lake, by the end of October, a spokesperson for the Dallas-based company said. The location has a drive-thru window. The retail space was previously occupied by Caribou Coffee.

In May, the Crystal Lake City Council approved a matching grant of up to $10,000 for the Which Wich store under the city's New Retailer Job Creation and Investment Program.

Which Wich, started in 2003 in Dallas, has more than 300 locations around the world. It offers customers more than 50 types of customizable sandwiches.

Which Wich plans to spend more than 46,000 on new furniture, fixtures and equipment and hire two full-time and 12 part-time employees, according to city documents.

In May, Patel told the City Council that the Hoffman Estates store, which opened in 2011, had about $750,000 in annual income, according to the minutes of the meeting.
