Roundup: Richmond-Burton girls golfers edge CL Central at Marian Invite

The Richmond-Burton girls golf team held on to beat Crystal Lake Central co-op by one shot Wednesday and win the Marian Central Invitational at Boone Creek in Bull Valley. 

The Rockets' top-four golfers finished with a team total of 333, one better than the Tigers. Prairie Ridge was third with a 414 at the six-team tournament. Marian did not use enough golfers to particpate in the team portion. 

Larisa Luloff of Crystal Lake Central and Blake Betke of Richmond-Burton shared medalist honors, each shooting a 76. The Tigers' Emily Jean was one shot back with a 77 for third overall. 

Mackenzie Hahn of R-B shot an 80 and Kat Cummings added an 84. Sophia Archos led Marian with an 82, and Erin Wing was the top golfer for Prairie Ridge with an 87. 

BOYS GOLF

Hampshire 166, Belvidere 222, At Timber Pointe in Poplar Grove, Jake Tuttle and Myles Miller each shot a 41 to lead the Whip-Purs (1-0) to the season-opening nonconference victory.

Drew Doran and Nick Swierczynski each shot 42 for Hampshire.
