CHICAGO – Archer Daniels Midland Company says its new downtown Chicago headquarters is open.
The agribusiness company said Monday it opened the new office with about 70 employees. Spokeswoman Jackie Anderson said about 50 of those people moved from the company’s former headquarters in Decatur in central Illinois. The rest are new employees.
ADM decided in December to set up a new international headquarters in Chicago even after it failed to obtain millions of dollars in state tax breaks it sought to remain in the state.
The company is keeping a North American headquarters and about 4,400 jobs in Decatur. ADM has about 31,000 employees around the world.
ADM processes corn, soybeans and other crops to make everything from animal feed and food additives to ethanol.
