Heat Index could reach 100 this afternoon

A mild summer will turn quite warm today, according to a special weather statement issued by the National Weather Service.

Very hot and humid conditions are expected, with temperatures forecasted to rise into the low 90s in the area. Combined the muggy conditions, heat index values could reach between 98 and 104 degrees, according to the NWS.

These conditions can lead to an increased risk of heat-related stress and illness, particularly for the young and elderly.
