Prep Roundup: Hahns lead R-B past Johnsburg

At Genoa City, Wis., Jordan Hahn and sister Mackenzie led the Rockets past Johnsburg in their first conference matches of the season.

Jordan finished with a 2-under 33, while Joey Pegura and Matt Walters each shot a 39 in the 151-172 victory for R-B (4-0, 1-0 BNC East) at Nippersink. Grant Fisher led the Skyhawks (0-3, 0-1) with a 37.

On the girls side, Mackenzie shot a 43, earning medalist honors, while teammate Blake Betke finished with a 44 for R-B (1-0, 1-0). The Skyhawks (2-1, 1-1) was led by Emma Johnson with a 52.

Boys Golf

Marian Central 179, St. Edward 181: At Woodstock, Kyler Hardie shot 5-over 41 to lead the Hurricanes (2-0) past the Green Wave in their nonconference dual meet at Crystal Woods.

Edward Salvador (45), Evan Caselton (46) and Brian Powers (47) rounded out Marian’s scoring.

Girls Golf

Crystal Lake Central co-op 165, Dundee-Crown 251: At Dundee, Emily Jean shot a 1-over 36 to lead Crystal Lake Central co-op past Dundee-Crown in the dual meet. Larissa Luloff (36) and Brittany Reid (44) rounded out the top three for the Gators. Dundee-Crown (1-1) was led by Kylie Kost, who finished the day with a 51.

Boys Soccer

McHenry 3, Grant 0: At Fox Lake, Ian Tapia scored twice for the Warriors (1-0-0) in their season opener against Grant. Joe Trocki added a goal, while James Muhall had two assists for McHenry. Richie Boettcher had one save in the shutout.

Dundee-Crown 2, Harlem 0: At Carpentersville, the Chargers (1-0-0) won their season opener in a shutout win over Harlem. Andrew Janikowski and Freddy Martinez scored, while William Campos assisted on both goals for D-C.

Anitoch 8, Crystal Lake Central 0: At Antioch, the Tigers (0-1-0) lost their season opener in the nonconference match against Anitoch.

Vernon Hills Classic: At Vernon Hills, Woodstock North lost both its matches to start the season. The Thunder (0-2) lost their opener to host Vernon Hills, 2-1, and a second game to Zion Benton, 4-2. Chris Niese scored two goals on the day, while Esteban Albarran had two assists.
