No injuries after Crystal Lake structure fire

CRYSTAL LAKE – There were no injuries reported Tuesday after a fire at a Crystal Lake auto repair garage, according to the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department.

After arriving about 6:20 p.m. at 487 W. Virginia St., firefighters discovered a vehicle fire and had it under control by 6:30 p.m., a news release said.

The vehicle was heavily damaged and a second vehicle sustained minor smoke damage, as well. The building was damaged by heat, smoke and water.

The Crystal Lake Police Department assisted, as did fire departments from Algonquin and McHenry.

Initial damage estimates totaled $30,000, $10,000 for the vehicle and $20,000 for the building and its contents, the release said.

The fire is under investigation by the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department.
