CRYSTAL LAKE – A hike, a story and a craft will introduce kids to the outdoors.

The program, put on by the McHenry County Conservation District, will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Sept. 14 at Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road, Crystal Lake.

All ages are welcome, and registration is not required.

This month's story will be "The Tiny Seed" by Eric Carle, and the craft will be based off the story.

The coming sessions will center on "Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf" by Lois Ehlert on Oct. 12 and "When Winter Comes" by Nancy Van Laan on Nov. 9.

For  information, call Prairieview Education Center at 815-479-5779 or visit the conservation district's website at www.MCCDistrict.org.
