To the Editor:
You still can see the aftermath of the Great Recession in Crystal Lake.
Neighbors moving out. Stores closing. Even our local Corner Bakery was not immune to the
recession. No doubt about it. We’ve had a rough go of things lately.
Thankfully, although some businesses still are struggling, we have someone batting for us in Congress. Sen. Dick Durbin has proven he understands the concerns of the average Illinoisan, and he is fighting to ensure Illinois remains competitive even though we’ve fallen on hard times.
The senator is one of the loudest supporters in Illinois for raising the minimum wage to $10.10, a modest increase from the current minimum wage of $8.25. Durbin also has a track record of bringing projects such as the Digital Lab, a multimillion dollar manufacturing hub, to Illinois.
These kinds of policies and projects give a boost to the economy and people’s wallets, which I think we all can agree is much needed in Illinois.
Vote for Illinois this November and support Dick Durbin.
