1 driver taken to hospital after Spring Grove semi-pickup truck crash on Route 12

SPRING GROVE – A man was taken to Centegra Hospital – McHenry on Monday night after a pickup truck crossed over Route 12’s center line and crashed into a semitruck, fire officials said.

The Spring Grove Fire Protection District was dispatched about 10:20 p.m. to a crash near Route 12 and May Lane, where Capt. Joe Christopherson said the semi had veered off the road after being struck by the other vehicle.

“I’d say there was moderate to heavy damage on the pickup truck,” Christopherson said. “Neither vehicle was drivable.”

The driver of the pickup was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, he said.

The area of the crash was shut down to traffic for about two and a half hours. The Spring Grove police and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office also were on the scene.
