Car catches fire in Woodstock parking lot

WOODSTOCK – A car that caught fire Tuesday morning in a Woodstock parking lot was a total loss given the damages, firefighters said.

The Woodstock Fire Rescue District was dispatched about 5:54 a.m. for a vehicle on fire in the Farm and Fleet parking lot, 11501 Route 14, Capt. Brendan Parker said.

An employee reported to officials that he was coming into work when he noticed mechanical issues with his car, Parker said, adding the employee checked under the hood to find the engine compartment on fire after pulling into the lot.

Nobody was injured, and no other vehicles or buildings were close enough to be exposed to the flames, Parker said. It took firefighters about five minutes to extinguish the fire.
