Ingleside man charged with drug induced homicide of Spring Grove woman

SPRING GROVE – An Ingleside man has been charged with drug induced homicide related to the death of a Spring Grove woman in November.

Jacob D. Mazzuca, 21, of Ingleside, was charged Friday with drug induced homicide – a Class X felony – and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, which is a Class 2 felony. A Class X felony is punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

After an investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Department, officers determined Mazzuca provided Cristina Villasana, 21, of Spring Grove, with a synthetic drug known as SASS – a form of Ecstasy. Villasana was taken to a hospital the morning of Nov. 11 and was pronounced dead by 7:52 p.m.

According to a Lake County Sheriff's Department news release, false information provided by the people who drove Villasana to the hospital hampered the initial investigation.

Mazzuca is being held in the Lake County Jail on a $750,000.00 bond.
