WOODSTOCK – A fire destroyed a car when it ignited inside a Woodstock garage Friday, a fire official said.
Woodstock Fire Rescue District Lt. Nick Weir said crews were dispatched shortly after 8:30 a.m. to a home in the 1900 block of Sebastian Drive. The first arriving crews found a car on fire inside the garage attached to a single-family home, Weir said.
Weir said firefighters extinguished the blaze in about five minutes.
The fire caused about $20,000 in damage, which Weir said was mostly from the destroyed car. The garage and home suffered some smoke and water damage, but he said the residents were not displaced. No one was injured in the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Weir said it does not appear suspicious.
Crews from Wonder Lake, Harvard and Huntley also assisted, Weir said.
