West Dundee fire causes $250,000 in damages

WEST DUNDEE – A house fire in West Dundee left about $250,000 worth of damage, fire officials said Saturday.

The West Dundee Fire Department responded at 9:36 a.m. to 2006 Waterbury Court for a reported garage fire, according to a news release from the department.

Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the two-story house, which has an attached garage. They entered the house under heavy smoke to stop the fire from progressing into the living space while additional crews extinguished the garage fire and then checked for extension, officials said.

Bystanders reported all occupants were out of the house and officials said there were no injuries.

With damages to the house and contents estimated at $250,000, the house was left uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, officials said.

Additional fire agencies assisted from Carpentersville, East Dundee, Rutland-Dundee, and Elgin for a total of 32 firefighters on scene.
