No one injured in Woodstock school bus fire

WOODSTOCK – An empty Woodstock School District 200 bus was damaged after the engine compartment caught fire, a fire official said.

The Woodstock Fire Rescue District responded about 2:05 p.m. Friday to Wicker and Short streets for a reported school bus fire, Capt. Brendan Parker.

The bus driver noticed smoke coming from the front of the full-sized bus and pulled over, Parker said.

"The fire was pretty much contained to the engine compartment," he said.

Nobody was injured, but the bus was damaged during firefighters' response.

Wicker Street was shut down for about 30 minutes while the crew put out the fire, Parker said.
