Authorities investigating after boy is killed in Crystal Lake ATV crash

CRYSTAL LAKE – Authorities continue to investigate an ATV crash they said left a boy dead Sunday night.

Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department crews and Crystal Lake police were dispatched about 7 p.m. to the 2400 block of Bryn Mawr Lane for a report of a crash in a field involving a single ATV, according to a news release from police.

Police said that when they arrived, they found a boy who had suffered multiple injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics attended to the boy, but he was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski said an autopsy to determine the cause of death is scheduled for Tuesday morning. Majewski said she might release more information after the autopsy.

Officials are not providing the boy’s name, town of residence or exact age.
