McHENRY – McHenry police are investigating an incident that left one person dead and one injured Monday morning.
Police responded about 8:53 a.m. to the 4300 block of Parkway Avenue in McHenry to a call of an unknown problem, according to a news release from the McHenry Police Department.
The McHenry Township Fire Protection District was called just before 9 a.m. to 4316 W. Parkway Ave. to respond to a report of a man who said he had slit his throat, and said that he had killed his wife, according to the dispatch.
Officers found one person in the residence who was dead, police said. Another person was found with an injury and taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville by Flight for Life, police said.
Officers and detectives carried evidence bags and took photographs inside and around the property, which was surrounded by crime-scene tape. Detectives went door-to-door interviewing neighbors.
Police said the McHenry County Major Investigative Assistance Team assisted with the investigation.
MIAT assisting with an incident usually indicates that police are treating the case as a homicide, although police would not confirm that point.
"It’s a death that's suspicious in nature," McHenry Police Deputy Chief John Birk said.
Birk said he could not comment further on the incident, which still is under investigation, but expected more information to be released Tuesday.
Police believe the incident was isolated, and said there is no danger to the public.
The McHenry County Coroner's Office is assisting in determining the cause of death, police said.
