NORTH CHICAGO – Capt. James Hawkins, commanding officer, Naval Station Great Lakes, is extending an invitation to all families, friends and neighbors to attend the base’s annual 4th of July celebration from 3 to 10 p.m. July 3 to 4 at Ross Field.
The festival this year will honor survivors of the bombing of Pearl Harbor on the 75th anniversary of the surprise attack.
On July 3, the music lineup on the Rock, White & Blue main stage will feature Royal Bliss, Madison Rising, Infinity and, headlining, classic rock band Night Ranger.
Also on July 3, the Libertyville Vipers basketball team will play a Navy team, and children are invited to participate in an instructional clinic and get autographs from their favorite basketball players. The nighttime Firecracker Rock & Run will commence at 8:15 p.m.
Concluding the evening, a fireworks show will light up the sky about 9:45 p.m., immediately following Night Ranger’s performance.
On July 4, live bands will include Mellencougar, Stolen Rhodes, Madison County, the USO Troupe, and Navy Band Great Lakes. Fireworks will start about 9:30 p.m.
